MAD-learn Virtual Internship Application
If you are interested in applying for a Virtual Internship with MAD-learn, please fill out the application form below. Please note: internships are unpaid, but stipends may be available based on projects, length of internship, and performance during the internship.

MAD-learn Internship Guidelines

The MAD-learn internship opportunity is intended to provide substantial and relevant workplace experience in the field. While an intern may participate in entry-level activities, these should be relevant to instructional and/or performance design. The internship will take place remotely, and it should comprise work carried out in communication with a supervisor at both the school and MAD-learn. Individualized assignments and projects for interns are uniquely crafted, based on the intern’s interests.

Responsibilities:

•  Candidate completes an application form (every form of internship requires an application)
     which includes a resume.

•  Candidate reviews the agreement to offer from the employer on letterhead, specifying:

-     Start and end dates of internship
-     Number of hours per week
-     Location of the internship/conditions of work
-     General statement of assignments/duties
-     Original signature of employer/representative

•  Candidate secures approval of the appropriate academic advisor in advance.

•  During the internship, the student should keep notes of key decisions, events and experiences
     to help prepare a narrative for an internship portfolio.
- Generate work samples to include in your portfolio as specified in your contract.
- During your internship, the student should meet regularly with the onsite mentor to
   receive guidance and feedback on his/her work.

•  At the midpoint of the internship, a memo on letterhead from the designated MAD-learn
     supervisor is mailed directly to the student’s school representative(s), verifying that the intern
     is working and giving a performance assessment.

•  Toward the end of the internship, the student should compile his/her work and prepare an
     internship portfolio to be either posted online, submitted electronically or hard-copy
     submitted in person to your faculty advisor. The internship portfolio should include:
Copy of the contract;
One page evaluation from the MAD-learn mentor(s);
Copies of work samples as listed in the contract; and
Portfolio narrative that (a) describes how work samples demonstrate achievement of the overall objectives, (b) reflects on the experience (key decisions, important moments, what was good, bad, etc.), (c) discusses any variance in what the student planned to do (as stated in contract) and what he/she actually did, and (d) identifies areas of interest and/or need for the student’s own future development.
•  At the end of the internship, a memo on letterhead from the employer mailed directly to the
     designated school department representative(s) summarizing the major work activities carried out during the
     internship and giving an assessment of the intern’s performance
